The Y-12 national security Complex, which works with the US Department of energy's nuclear power safety in the business, is a business to develop reliable and U.s. nuclear weapons deterrent, retrieving and storing nuclear materials, fueled by U.s. naval reactors and carry out other Government and private functions.

In operation since 1943, the Y-12 National Security Complex has traditionally used a series of dangerous toxins such as asbestos.  Asbestos is prized by the Y-12 complex in its fire protection insulation and durability.  In 1970, the Organization related to asbestos, PCBs, lead paint and other hazards.  The company to implement new policies in order to reduce the risks posed by these toxic substances, asbestos, however, continues to be a complex problem.

Y-12 is currently the asbestos program is designed to reduce the exposure to asbestos at work.  This Department is responsible for ensuring that all operations involving asbestos-laden materials are carried out as safely as possible.  This program is subject to the Federal, State and organization codes the asbestos disturbance, correcting, and deleting.
